Their tag “bastard Americana” neatly sums it up, fusing elements of country, folk, and rock, but seasoned with so many other flavors that at times I think the album is veering in an unexpected direction, but it always circles back to where it started. The music is elevated by superb songwriting, dueling male/female vocals, and musicianship. There’s a bit of an outlaw vibe, and the overall tone manages to feel dark and bright at the same time.
